My work is inspired by the beautiful landscape of Exmoor, where I love to walk and explore. I am drawn to archeological sites where old settlements existed and have left deep physical scars on the landscape. In fierce weather I like to contemplate the importance of shelter and sanctuary to the former inhabitants who lived in these remote places. I have explored the idea of home and sanctuary further in my 'Perfect Palace of a Hut series', where I was inspired by the huts of the "Heroic Age" of Polar Exploration.

Often on my walks I have fleeting interactions with animals and birds where momentarily our paths cross and for only a brief moment we might stand and watch each other before going on our way. I try to capture these moments of intense mutual scrutiny.
